Song of The Day

"Lovers In Japan/Reign Of Love" by Coldplay, off the album Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends.

This song is just under seven minutes long, and most people know of the portion that was used as a single for a radio edit. Coldplay cut that track in half to use as a single for radio-play, which crushes me every time I hear that version. It really needs to be heard in full. About 3:45 into the track there is an incredible transition where Chris Martin goes into this very soothing, calm and beautiful piano piece. It is one of those songs that must be played loudly, with an outstanding build-up to an even more incredible closing. It always drives me a little nuts to hear people dismiss Coldplay so easily. The only part of the movie 40-Year Old Virgin that I didn't enjoy, was their Coldplay comment, because that served Coldplay an undeserved diss. I feel that everyone needs to sit down with Coldplay's albums and play them from start to finish. They are one of the few remaining groups that write albums in a storyline fashion. Despite being overexposed, they are a great band. Hopefully you can enjoy this song as much as I have.
